Cooking Concepts was founded by Naomi Ross in 2003. Originally “Cooking for Kallahs,” the course was created as a service for newly married Jewish women who were overwhelmed with their responsibilities in the kitchen. Unique in its invention, Cooking Concepts combined training in cooking and baking basics with integral kitchen management skills such as menu planning and Shabbos preparation. As interest in the program grew, Naomi expanded her offerings to include men and women in all stages of life, ranging from single college students to grandmothers. Many students quipped that Cooking Concepts was the course they wished they had attended when they were first married, but no such thing existed at the time. Now after six years, Naomi continues to develop exciting new workshops and demonstrations and writes articles that connect good cooking with spirituality. Naomi lives with her husband, four children, and grandmother in Woodmere. She teaches regular courses at the Center for Kosher Culinary Arts and the Kosher Culinary Institute of the Five Towns JCC. In addition, she gives demonstrations and private lessons throughout the tri-state area. Her articles are regularly published in Jewish periodicals throughout the country. |
